Circle Loomed Yarn Bowls

I bought a small circle loom from Twill Textile Design on Etsy.  Although I don’t really know what to do with the finished bowls, I’ve been making them like crazy because it’s such an enjoyable, soothing activity.  Watching the colors form into slow, lazy rings is immensely satisfying.

Tiny Loom

A small part of my weekend will be spent getting to know my new pin loom from Purl Soho.  When I ordered this loom,  I pictured it as a quiet craft I could take along on summer vacation, something to keep my hands busy while away from the sewing machine.   How sweet will it be to sit on a cabin balcony, soaking in the view of the Smoky Mountains while weaving tidy little coasters?  (My family simply cannot comprehend my idea of a great vacation, which is why there will also be zip lining.)   Now that the little loom is here though, I’ll probably have a stack of coasters long before vacation.  Anyway!

Have a great weekend!

Sometimes ordering from Etsy is like sending yourself a present.  I’m knitting scarves for my husband and me to wear this fall on a trip to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, and this is how my yarn arrived.  Isn’t it great?!  It’s simple, but so well presented and coordinated that twine, tissue paper, tags and a tiny skein of  beautiful, gifted yarn look so festive!  If you’d like to order some of your own, this is from Marigold Jen.

Here’s how our scarves look so far:

Hers and His

(Mine still needs a little work.)

The yarn for my husband’s scarf is from Black Sheep Dyeworks and was so wonderful to work with that I already ordered another skein — for a project I may tell you about in October.  (<~~Foreshadowing!)

If you’re a knitter, I recommend these great shops!
